Horizon Forbidden West Update 1.08 Patch Notes

Update 1.08 has arrived for Horizon Forbidden West, and here is the complete list of changes and corrections added to this patch. Horizon Forbidden West has been released at a slightly less than a month ago on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 and proved to be a secure, yet entertaining continuation that looks fantastic on the next generation computers. This patch fixes many of the main problems players with Horizon Forbidden West, including progress issues during main history and side quests. The update is currently being introduced for both PS4 and PS5, so you should see it soon in your download queue. Everything is new with Update 1.08 for Horizon Forbidden West.

This patchotizes come directly from Guerrilla Games themselves courtesy of official horizon-subbreddit. Here’s what’s new.


We are currently examining several problems reported by the community. Please note that these problems are not yet resolved in this patch, but our teams examine them with high priority.

  • The team continues to investigate and optimize the reported graphical problems in terms of shimmer, sharpening and screen saturation.
  • Some players have reported several problems with different types of traversal after the player quickly traveled to a campfire while sliding in a tornado.
  • Some players have reported a problem with the receipt of the reward after completion of the Black Box Collectibles activity.

Taxes and improvements

Main quests

  • Fix a problem in the main quest “To the Brink”, in which the use of “Silent Strike” in a quest-specific Bristleback teleported the player to Chainscrape.
  • Fixing a problem in the main quest “The Dying Lands”, in which Varl and ZO sometimes stayed idle outside of Plainsong and blocking progress.
  • Fix a problem in the main quest “The Dying Lands”, where Aloy’s companions are not preceded by a certain score after restarting.
  • It has been fixed a problem in the main quest “The Broken Sky”, in which the reloading of a particular game sometimes unintentionally unintentional can deactivate the speed.
  • Fixing a problem in the main quest “weighing the echoes”, in which loading of a memory status created in the previous patch led that Aloy stuck in the base.
  • Fixing a problem in the main quest “Theben”, where Aloy’s breathing noises were played during a movie sequence.
  • Fixing a problem in the main quest “All That Remains”, where a restart from a certain memory status led that Aloy spawned in the base and she could not leave.

Side Missions

  • Fixing a problem in the side quest “The Bristlebacks”, where Ulvund did not receive the memo and slopes after completion of the quest in Chainscrape.
  • It has been fixed a problem in the side quest “what was lost”, in which KoTallo sometimes no longer responded if it was reloaded by a certain score.
  • Fixing a problem in the side quest “blood for blood”, in which under certain circumstances could not be interacted with Kavvoh and Arokekeh, which blocked progress.
  • It has been fixed a problem in the side quest “forbidden heritage”, in which fast travel during the slid catch meeting led that the machine did not reappear and thus blocked the progress.
  • A problem has been fixed in the side quest “The Roots That Bind”, where the quest target “Go To the Drumroot” was not completed after the Widemaws were damaged from a large distance.
  • It has been fixed a problem in the sense of concern “Call and Response”, where the killing of the enemies, before the goal has been achieved, could block progress.

World Activities

  • Fix a problem in Gauntlet Run, in which the crossing of the finish line led as the latter under certain circumstances to a victory.
  • Several problems have been fixed where certain fire-shine and metal flower symbols were not displayed on the map.
  • An issue has been resolved in which fire-gloss symbols have not been correct from the card after the associated activity was completed.
  • It has been fixed a problem in which the fast trip has been disabled under certain circumstances when a game was loaded, which was created when playing Machine Strike.


  • It has been fixed a problem where the Machine Strike user interface flickered short at the end of a game.


  • It was resolved a problem where Aloy was no longer wet after she was in the water.
  • Several graphic corrections and improvements in film sequences.
  • Several visual improvements in shadows and clouds.
  • Fixed a problem in which the control of the photomodus was frozen when the photomodus was started during a swan dive.

Performance and stability

  • Several crash corrections.
  • Several power and streaming improvements in movie sequences.
  • Multiple unintended charging screens and black screens removed.
  • Several instances of streaming and visual popping have been fixed.


  • Multiple improvements on the movement and the animations of the NPCs in settlements made.
  • Marking individual components when using motion target and scanning machines was simplified.
  • If you cancel potions or tools that do not fit into your tool belt, you will now be postponed to stock.
  • Several balancing changes to weapons and enemies.
  • Several cases were resolved in which Aloy could stay in the geometry.
  • It has been fixed a problem in which the trophy “all machine types scanned” could be easily overlooked during the last main quest “singularity”.
  • Fix for the riding call, which sometimes led that the flying render of unwanted positions was spawned and in rare cases was unattainable.
  • Several data points that are in areas where the player could not return, are now automatically unlocked when the player leaves this area.
  • It has been fixed that several instances of certain songs were kept and repeated.

Horizon prohibited west is now available for PS4 and PS5.
